HISTORY

The history of this incredible breed begins with that of the German Shepherd. In 1913, the first white shepherd was registered in the book of origins of German shepherds. From 1933, the white color was prohibited in the standard of German Shepherds. Since then, the "white German shepherd" was prohibited from breeding and exhibiting. The "White German Shepherd" managed to survive thanks to the Americans who continued to breed it. The American male "Lobo", White German Shepherd born on March 5, 1966, can be considered the progenitor of the breed - White Swiss Shepherd. His descendants, along with others imported from the United States, slowly founded a line in Europe that in November 2002 FCI provisionally accepted with the name "BERGER BLANC SUISSE". In 2011, the breed was officially and definitively recognized by FCI. More recently, in 2017, the UK recognized the Berger Blanc Suisse breed, with its English name - White Swiss Shepherd Dog.
